At Highlands Development our team is a diverse group of experienced professionals committed to excellence in real estate development and property management. Lisa Aronson

Property Manager
Lisa Aronson is a Property Manager from Lee's Summit, Missouri, with a Bachelor of Behavioral Science from the University of Missouri. She started her career at ADP as an Account Executive, later transitioning into Automotive Finance Training, Hotel Property Management, and Accounting. Lisa joined Highlands as an Office Manager and now works as a Property Manager. A standout moment in her career was opening VA Community-Based Clinics, where she connected with veterans and saw the positive impact on their lives. Outside of work, Lisa is a dedicated supporter of the Light the Night cause for leukemia, a cause close to her heart. She also enjoys traveling, casinos, and spending time with her family, including her two children and husband.

Stacey Lankard

Controller
Stacey Lankard, originally from Urich, MO, is the Controller at Highlands Development, overseeing financial operations. She holds a B.S. in Accounting and has 17+ years of experience in commercial real estate accounting. She began her career at Block Real Estate Services, advancing from Accounting Administrator to Accountant. In 2019, she joined NorthPoint Development, rising to Accounting Manager, managing industrial and multi-family financials. Outside of work, Stacey enjoys reading—ranging from thrillers and crime fiction to fantasy and self-help. She also loves spending time outdoors with her family, fishing and walking. Her expertise in financial oversight and real estate accounting makes her a key asset to the Highlands Development team.

Brett Powell

Vice President of Development and Engineering
Brett Powell, Vice President of Development at Highlands, has nearly a decade of experience in real estate development. Originally from Springfield, Missouri, he holds a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from the University of Kansas. Before joining Highlands, Brett spent 10 years managing healthcare construction projects as a project manager for a large general contractor. He then transitioned to real estate development, overseeing projects in senior living, multifamily, and industrial sectors. Notable projects include the University of Missouri Healthcare Orthopaedics Institute and the conversion of the iconic Power and Light building in downtown Kansas City into apartments. Outside of work, Brett enjoys outdoor activities like boating, skiing, and hiking.

Emily Matos

Accounting Specialist
Emily Matos, originally from Overland Park, Kansas, is an Accounting Administrator at Highlands. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Kansas State University and is currently pursuing her Masters in Business Administration at the University of Kansas City-Missouri. Emily began her career as a paralegal assistant at a law firm before transitioning to the accounting field for Seville Home Furniture where she was in charge of AR/AP services. In her current role at Highlands, she oversees daily operations of AP & AR Services and Office Administration. Outside of work, Emily enjoys photography and gardening, capturing world landscapes and cultivating her own outdoor space.
